The Rules of Sneaker Care
April 08, 2015

Any sneakerhead knows that your shoes are the most important part of your outfit and need to be in tip-top shape at all times. That’s why cleaning and caring for your kicks is not just a nice-to-do, it’s downright mandatory.

The good news is that sneaker care is pretty easy and cost-effective. Just follow these simple rules, and you’ll be good to go.

Leather? Suede? Canvas? Nylon? Doesn’t matter. Find the right protector and load it on. Just make sure to test it on a nonvisible spot first—you don’t want to damage your babies.

Clean your sneakers regularly with mild soap and water. A toothbrush is a great tool to get in all those nooks and crannies. As far as the laces go, replace them when they start looking dingy or machine wash then iron them.

Sure you might have a new favorite, but you’ve got to give them a rest every now and again. Rotating your sneakers will allow them to completely dry out and maintain their shape. Plus, they’ll look great for years.
