Meet the Shoe Lover: Hannah
November 26, 2014

We’ve explored countless cities to find a fresh, new wave of street-style stars that love their shoes! Draw inspiration from their unique looks and learn how you can channel their vibe.

Name: Hannah K.
Job: Clinical Psychology student
Current city: Atlanta, GA

We spotted this former New Yorker as she was ambling out of a particularly long morning class. A canine-loving clinical psychology student with penchant for sarcasm, she had us in splits. We were struck by the chic simplicity of her look and asked her about her winter essentials and holiday gift list.

Where are you from?
I’m originally from New York, but I moved out to Atlanta in high school and I’ve lived here ever since.

What do you do?
I’m getting my master’s degree in Clinical Psychology.

That’s impressive! Tell us about those shoes you’re wearing.
They’re my essential grey booties—I wear them at least twice a week. I pair them with joggers or skinny jeans for a casual, urban look or with my go-to navy sheath for something with a little more punch.

Sounds like you get a lot of mileage out of them. Tell us a little more about your day-to-day style.
I’m usually pretty dressed down when I’m at school—you happened to catch me on a good day (laughs). Jokes aside, my two internships give me a chance to get a little more creative with my look.

You must live a pretty busy life!
Yes, that’s probably why I’m such a layering nut. It’s great to be able to change my look throughout the day as I flit between school, work, and play. Plus, it’s comforting to know that I don’t have to suffer in silence when the weather gets hot or humid—I can just pull my sweater off.

What’s your go-to look?
Probably a button up with a sweater and a light jacket thrown over. I also like pairing longer necklaces with chunky statement pieces. It’s a great way to update your accessories and keep your look fresh.

Tell us about the Atlanta "look". What one pair of shoes do you absolutely have to own as a resident?
The look in Atlanta is very minimalistic and comfort driven—you tend to see a lot of hoodies and sweatshirts. I’d say booties are the local “must have” because they give a sophisticated yet understated touch to an otherwise ordinary outfit.

What are your three essential pairs of shoes for fall/winter?

  1. Black suede Knee-high boots—they add some edge to those everyday “leggings + tunic” outfits

  2. Quilted flats—I love wearing them with boyfriend jeans

  3. Black pumps—these are year-round essentials, but work especially well with A-line dresses and tights during this time of year.

What’s the pair you’re most excited to wear during the Holidays?
Definitely red stilettos; they embody that “festive” look.

What are you going to be gifting this season?

  1. Minimalist charm necklaces—they’re understated, highly personalizable and something that can be worn everyday.

  2. Chunky scarves—they’re a great way to add color to your look and it’s nice to know that you’re helping keep someone warm in the winter months!

  3. Hand-stitched pillows—it’s my not-so-secret, secret hobby.
